An oldie, but new to me: what it would sound like if pre-flight announcements were honest.

Google Flight Search looks incredibly useful.

Wow, everybody hates the TSA and who can blame them? In case you haven’t been watching the slow-motion train wreck unfold, here are a few lowlights:

There have been some excellent resistance stories though:

  • John Tyner refused, “if you touch my junk, I’ll have you arrested.”
  • So did this fellow, “I understand what the pat-down entails, but I wanted to let you know that I do not give you permission to touch my genitals or the surrounding area. If you do, I will consider it assault.”
  • Finally, blast from the past, Penn Jillette was groped by airport security in 2002 and insisted they call the police.

I ended up in the backscatter machine on a recent trip to Florida a bit before this really started to hit the fan. Didn’t realize what it was until I was in there, I just assumed it was that puffer machine.

ONN: Franz Kafka International Named World’s Most Alienating Airport. I love the backdrops, especially the madly spinning clock. (via waxy)

Too rich for my blood, but I think the Walkstool might be the ultimate Ultimate chair, mostly because it folds down to nothing (here's one clipped to a photographer's belt). A buddy of mine had a knock-off I envied. Not that I'll be trading in my $6 K-Mart special anytime soon, but I would if I had money to burn.

How to cure your asthma or hayfever using hookworm - a practical guide:

Based upon what I read, and what I learned about the hookworm I decided that I was going to try and infest myself with hookworm in an attempt to cure my asthma. I was not willing to wait ten or more years for the drug companies to bring a drug to market. It was obvious to me that hookworm, for a healthy adult with a good diet, are quite benign. This account details my experiences, how I went about it, and the things I have done since infestation to calibrate my level of infestation so that in the end I was able to cure my asthma and hay fever with hookworm. These same techniques are of course applicable to any hookworm infestation, whether you want to control asthma, hay fever, colitis, Crohn's disease or Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).

Amazing. Talk about thinking outside the box. Having had a couple (isolated) bouts with not being able to breathe, I do not envy asthma sufferers. If I couldn't breathe, I'd consider it. The guy even teaches a course.
