My favorite tower defense game ever, Kingdom Rush, is now out in an iPad version. There’s also Windosill. I actually played the iPad version first, and it totally captivated me and my girls.

Been awhile since I gave you a fun way to blow stuff up: Zomblast. It gets better as you go, I like it best for levels 20 and up.
I would build it up too much if I talked about it, but Wonderputt is a great game that you should definitely play. And it won’t totally destroy your workday because it’s only 18 holes. Even if you’re saying “golf?! no way” you should absolutely still give it a look.
If you are a tower defense fan, then prepare to kiss your workday (or a good night’s sleep) goodbye, Kingdom Rush is a great one. Starts a little slow, but as the variety of enemies and weapons adds up it really gets addictive.
Been awhile since I sucked away a little piece of your life on some casual game, so maybe sink your teeth into Blipzkrieg.
Great puzzle/platformer: Transmover New Generation. See the Jay is Games review if you can’t figure out what you are supposed to do (or with what keys).
Managed to get through Space is Key with only 432 deaths.
Otomata is a hypnotic “generative sequencer.” Yeah, I only have a vague idea of what that means too. What you do is put these blocks in motion and music magically emerges. Looking forward to the iOS version.
Fun little physics/shooter puzzle: Cuboy Quest.
Maxed out my plane in Flight. Couldn’t stop playing!
Nothing like the joy of endless video game mayhem, which the original Robokill delivered in spades. Paid to register it, feel like I got my $10 worth and then some. Of course I had to give Robokill 2 a go when it came out awhile ago, but at the time it just didn’t take. Too hard to advance, which hampered my joy of blowing stuff up. But I just tried it again, and loved it. I think they rebalanced it since it first came out. Registered and loving it.
Good stacking game with a nice wrinkle (the eating of the tower) and good music and graphics: Feed the King.
Nice Myst feel to this escape-the-room game (or in this case, escape the ninja house): Kalaquli.
Really enjoying e7, challenging and relaxing at the same time. Until I got stuck on sector 18G, that is. Now it’s not relaxing.
I probably enjoyed Ricochet Kills 2 more than I should have. 280 shots to finish it.
Amelia and I have been racing each other through Exit Path. She crushes me.
Lost an evening to this one: Cursed Treasure. Damn tower defense games get me every time. (via kottke)
Enough Plumbers is SUCH a clever game, set in the Mario universe. It seems cutesy and annoying at first, but it really is a great puzzler. Haven’t quite finished it yet, but I particularly liked level 15 so far.
Nano Ninja, the latest in the tradition of This is the Only Level and One Button Bob. Finished in 04:51.4 with 205 clicks.
Fun little trick shot game, Taberinos. The music makes it.
Fun Friday puzzler: enDice Complete. (via jay)
Harmony is a fun sketching toy. No Flash, so it will work on your iPhone.
I would have been in bed by now, if not for Shaun the Sheep.
ToneMatrix is just what I need, a musical instrument that sounds cool no matter what you do. I’m going to file this under “casualgames” even though it’s not really a game, because it feels like playing.
Alphabet Shoot. Got up to level 26 so far.
One Button Bob is reminiscent of—and just as addictive as—This is the Only Level. Took me 747 clicks.
This is the Only Level. Totally fantastic. It doesn’t look like much, but so addictive. It took me 18 minutes and 14 seconds to complete, with 122 deaths. Don’t read any instructions, just see if you can figure it out.
The parkour Flash game: Mirror’s Edge 2D. Great body motion and physics.
First-Person Tetris: all seems well and good until you hit the space bar to rotate. Whoa.
Funny, the last three three games in a row to have grabbed me are all grayscale. There was the aforementioned Grayscale, and then on its heels came Endless Migration (okay, that one has the occasional splash of red) and Hoshi Saga (there are also sequels I haven’t tried yet: Hoshi Saga 2, Hoshi Saga 3, and Hoshi Saga Ringo). (via kottke)
Grayscale is a lovely puzzle game (use arrow keys to guide your little dot to the big dot). (via jay)
One of my favorite games from the blow-lots-of-stuff-up genre has a sequel: Robokill 2.
Just in case you were being productive in the holiday run-up: Pulsus.
Kinda a sucker for these balance games: Perfect Balance 2. (via jay)
I do enjoy the occasional break for blowing lots of stuff up. Vector Boom fits the bill nicely. Can’t get past level 8.
Really nicely designed game to while away a little time: ClickPlay! The consensus over at Jay is Games seems to be that the “star shine” level is frustrating, so consider yourselves warned.
If you enjoyed previously mentioned Perfect Balance, you’ll also dig the new trials and Assembler 3. (via jay)
For a relaxing, soothing game experience, give Music Catch 2 a spin. To blow stuff up, try Death vs. Monstars. (via zoomdoggle)
Game of the day: Sproing Reloaded. Just the right amount of challenge. Nicely done. (via jig)
Okay, I’ll try to lay of the Flash games for awhile, but Jay is Games recently announced their Best of Casual Gameplay 2008 list", and I’ve been enjoying the big ass sword, jazzy soundtrack, and the variety of ways to die in Amorphous+.
Closure is an interesting game based around light. Hint: the little balls are the light sources, and if something isn’t illuminated, it doesn’t exist (including the floor!). (via waxy)
Aptly titled game: Perfect Balance. (via waxy)
Dodge: a game with much mayhem, and yet you are completely defenseless. Who knew being unarmed could be so much fun? (via jig)
Today’s time sink: Gravity Pods 2. (via jig)
Monolist gives you three planes of Space Invader remake action. Use the UP and DOWN arrows to switch between planes. The aliens couldn’t be more abstract, and yet it’s still satisfying to mow them down. The blue and red triangles are the best ones to catch.
Mightier has an interesting game play element: you design your character on paper and solve the puzzles on paper, scan ‘em in, and then the world gets built based on that. Watch the video to see what I mean. (via paper bits)
Beautiful, relaxing fun: Auditorium (via ze)
Makes my brain ache: merge.
Nano War. Relaxing, tense, and addictive at the same time. It’s satisfying when you feel the tide turn in your favor.
One of the most polished and fun Flash games I've seen in awhile: Robokill. Very little gets between you and the joyous mayhem of blowing stuff up.
Quite addictive: Spin The Black Circle.
(P.S. I think I'll try posting my links as I find them rather than saving them all up for a batch for awhile.)
Don't click this link if you want to get anything done this morning: Bloxorz. Great game.
A few guides to good, free, online games have cropped up. Probably because nobody gets anything done between Christmas and New Years:
Post your favorite of the ones you try.
It's been a long time since I've been addicted to a video game, but N has so thoroughly grabbed me. Amelia loves it too. The physics engine is terrific, and death is quick, brutal, and very, very funny. As if all that weren't enough, it's free.
Troyis, a simple and addictive Chess puzzle game. I managed to break 100,000 on my second try. That probably represents the best I can do without more practice than I can spare, and is almost certainly a crappy score.
I'm Jim Biancolo, and this is stuff I found interesting that I thought you might like too. Here are some of my favorites if you want to start there. Mostly I link to other people, but some stuff is mine, like:
